  • From Deggendorf, Germany. Studied Chemistry at the University of Regensburg and the University of Leeds. Graduated 2004, Completed doctoral research in 2008 in Analytical Chemistry in the group of Otto S. Wolfbeis with the thesis: Fluorescent Multiple Chemical Sensing using Time-Domain Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (summa cum laude).
    Scientific Associate and Junior Group Leader at the University of Leipzig from 2008 to 2016 working on miniaturized optical sensing approaches (DFG fellowship from 2011-16).
    Guest Professor at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) April to September 2016.
    Since October 2016 Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

Research Interests

  • Optical imaging, sensors and assays, optofluidics, digital microfluidics, nanotechnology, automation of analytical chemistry. Applications in biomedical, chemical and environmental analysis.
